Engine and tranny is installed, I have not yet fired it up, Installing inner fenders and cooling right now. Does anyone know if my 4.8 liter dipstick and tube will work with the ls1 and read properly??? More questions will be soon to come...mods are ls6 cam and springs auburn pos unit 342 gears escalade instrument cluster 17x9 wheels sunset orange mettalic!!!
It will work and read properly as long as you are still using the 4.8 oil pan.

Should fire it up tomorrow, I have a couple little things to do b 4 it can start!

also does anyone know where the cam sensor plugs in at....the guys had it labeled but im not sure where it goes....if anyone has some detailed pics of wiring and engine bay, that would also be great!!! One of the main wires I am not sure about is the ground from battery, there are 2 wires there, the smaller one is long, I am not sure where it routes and connects too.
got to work on the key mechanisim as well and am not sure how the air bag comes apart from the steering wheel, if anyone has any info on this it would help me out a bunch
What kind of vehicle are you putting this into? Everything from the 4.8 should bolt right up to the LS1 in all the same locations.
The cam sensor is on top of the block in the far back. Its right next to the oil pressure sensor.

The truck is a 2000 silverado short bed 2wd, it had the 4.8 in it and was replaced with the ls1, I didnt install the engine so i am going through everything makin sure it is right and there are a few plugs and such that are not connected. I installed an ls1 in my 2000 camaro ss and had no trouble but just not familiar with the truck! There is a single one wire plug that is blue right beside the computer that i cannot determine where it goes, and the wire coming from the ground terminal of the battery, once these are found, it should fire.
Did you experience any security issues when doing the install, starter will not work at this time, I am thinking it is a security issue?

There should be no reason for a security problem since your not changing pcms or anything, its just a mechanical swap.
The ground strap might be causing your starter not to start. I had a ground strap that went to the botton driver side of the block that didn't have a good connection and it caused my starter not to start.
I'm not sure of that single wire plug, if you can get a picture of it that would help.
