Modifiying my frame today for these LSx conversion mounts and was wondering if anyone has used these mounts for 63-72 GM trucks? Seems they narrowed the frame rails in 68 to accomodate big block frame stands so I need to remove about 3/8 to 1/2 inch from each frame rail and then, according to Early Classic, things will line up to fit.... I'll post again after I modify the frame with my results if anyone is interested. Pics will follow if I can size them right...
Progress report: Test fit motor on mounts, fits OK. Minor clearance issues with the stock exhaust manifolds against the frame but the mounts clear the manifolds unlike the previous setup I tried. (stock motor mounts with S&P style adapters for the motor), haven't checked the A/C compressor yet...looks like it'll be tight.... Next step, pull the motor back out, attach to trans, drill a few holes on the crossmember for the mounts, do a little grinding then drop the motor and trans back in. Pictures to follow after I resize them....

Yeah, that's were I started about 10 years ago with the straight 6... good little motor till it pitched a rod through the side of the block.... I replaced that with a 350 carbed motor from my Camaro (that I had swapped a 95 LT1 into, but that's a story for another forum.... :lol: . )Code:GMCwantsLS1Looking good! That is what the first 292 did, it was replaced with a rebuilt 292. Dad still drives it with the three on the tree. If it lives at my house for anytime, I'm going to change it! :devil:Quote:

Update: Swung the motor and trans, installation continues. Did the clearance work required for the stock exhaust manifolds, and the A/C compressor fits! I'll need to get and/or modify line A/C fittings however as there is not that much room. These mounts placed my motor further forward than I would have liked precluding use of the mechanical fan.... and it looks like there will be minimum clearance for electrical fans.... I'm trying something new on picture attachments, hopefully this will work.... Ive checked the help files on posting and there is not much guidance on picture attachments.... anyone want to give a newbie some assistance?
Picture worked great. Have you thought about sliding the engine back towards the firewall until you have about 2" of clearance and then modify the mounts to work in that position. I couldn't imagine having to settle for it sitting too far forward. You can always have a mobile welder come make custom brackets for you if you can't take it to them by tow truck. I haved used my AAA membership a time or two for items/work like that.
I think your pictures are working out fine! They are thumbnails for dialup users and can be expanded for detail!
What's the space specs on the 60's trucks versus the 80's trucks?
The mounts I got from BRP (and the way I mounted them) puts my 5.3 about 4" off the firewall in my '86. The reason I'm leaving this way is because I'd like to leave the 5.3 compressor in the stock location. If I switched the mounts to the opposite side & direction, the 5.3 would move back 2". As it stands I'll have 2" clearance (at the most) with e-fans.
