I thought I would share this and hope no one gets the wrong idea. During christmas time my dad droped his truck off (05 silverado) for an oil change at a shop that was in the mall parking lot. He left it for a few hrs and did some Xmas shopping. I was over and we were talking trucks and stuff he said it was not running right and said it was getting hot. Well after a quick check I noticed someone took the his freakin efans and screwed on an old ass fan clutch onto it and took his K&N drop in filter to. I cannot believe somone would have the balls to do this! Or that GM would still leave the dam threads there for the fan clutch either. Hopefully the shop will own up fire the guy and make it right. So beware when you let someone other than yourself work on your truck!

That is straight out messed up. I would be ready to kick the crap out of someone :grr: Get the cops to finger print that stuff and do a comparo with the staff.
-
Hell yeah call the fucking cops and rip that bastard a new one sue his ass too so he remembers not to do that kind of thing.
-
Double check the VIN and make sure you have the correct truck. Those cookie cutter trucks get mixed up quite often at the dealership.
Oops, take that back, I just re-read the post and saw it was at a oil-change-lube shop. :whack:

Well if it was up to me I would go down find the most likley guy and just punch him in the face and ask questions later. Mabey i'll get my ass kicked but I promise I would get my toll in! My old man knowing this insisted he handle it. He is a tough old bird So I really hope he goes down there and kicks the shit out of some one. I got his bail and told him that. He is going to case the joint and figure out who he thinks it was before he calls or does anything in case the person hasnt installed them yet. He could have been planning this for some time and picked up a spare fan clutch and is going to sit on the fans for a while? I dont now what this dude was thinking or how he thought he could get away with this. He would have been better off following him home and taking them. He is pretty much busted.

No need to check the VIN. When he bought it first thing I did was pop the hood to check it out and saw the EFans.
-
Plus the harness is still there hidden away.

I'd file a theft report with the police department and claim the manager at the lube place as the theif since the mgr is responsible for all damages the employees do.
-
If all else fails, I would call corporate office if they have one. I seen one place put a new engine in a car that just had the oil checked by one of the employees. Did not touch anything except the Dip stick. Checked oil, manager standing beside him verified and let the person know it was full. Well they went home drained the oil and said the lube joint did it. Bam new Engine. Corporate just asked the employees if the checked the oil. It was easier for them to just replace the motor then pay attorney etc etc.

Well I will update when I learn more. My old man lives 3 hrs away if this was local it would have been handeld by now. I am a Tech myself and see shit like this all the time. 30-40% of the cars that have K&N drop in filters have paper filters. I have seen whole intakes gone with the customer not having a clue. I remember the first time I saw the 05 silverado in a shop. A friend said dude this has efans, So I went over and had a look and noticed it still had the pully with the treads for the fan clutch. I said thats stupid I could swap my shit for his and he would never know. Now I was just talking shit about what I saw and would never do anything like that! Some one else would though
