I lowered my 1996 shortbed regular cab Sierra with an Aim Industries 3/4 drop. The rear is lowered using the shackle and hanger method. After lowering the truck I noticed that something in the rear suspension or frame squeaks when I leave my driveway, or anytime the frame is put in a twist. Would anyone know what this could be and how it could be fixed. Thanks, get site!
What type of bushings are in it now?

The bushings are OEM with 150,000 miles on them. I thought about getting the Energy Suspension kit to replace everything, but not sure if it would be worth it.

he hit the nail on the head, i had an old 87 chevy 4x4 short bed that squeaked cause the leaf spring bushings were bad.Quote:

It is sure worth it. Just make sure you lube it up good. They can make noise if you dont. You can also take and get some graphite powder and put it in a spray bottle with alcohol and let it soak into everything and last for a while. Oh if you have a tractor trailer parts place around they might carry some in a spray bottle. We use to use it on the tandems sliders on the trailer. Oh and did your torque everything with the weight on the truck or in the air with the suspesion hanging. That can cause noise issues also.Quote:

I kinda figured it had something to do with a bushing, but was unsure where to start looking because it started only after I lowered and all the lowering components were bought new. I thought maybe the leaf spring bushing or where the bed mounts to the frame. Thanks again.

Just a reminder if you buy the energy suspension kit and repalce all of your bushings do not throw away any of the metal sleeves. You will need them to put the bushings in. I didn't and had to go and buy new OEM bushings just for the metal sleeves. :cry: I did find an easy way to get the old rubber bushing out, just set it on fire and the rubber will just shoot out.
Hey man mine does that bullshit,everytime I go to take off,it drives me absolutly nuts,sounds like shit!I am gonna go ahead and replace my bushings,I bet that helps cause that is where it is coming from!You are not the only one with that damn noise :tantrum:
You can spray silicone spray on the rubber components just to see which one is squeaking if you don't want to make a mess with oil. At least this way you can save a lttle money unless you know which bushing it is. Just a thought.
