Got a 2005 Avalanche with exhaust and air filter mod.
When the K&N was put in and the dual exhaust added the gas mileage went to crap -2 to -3 miles to the gallon. Can it be tuned to get the mileage back with HPTuners?

thats wierd it would go down. why is that?
Could be a heavy foot. :laugh:
For real. they say that K&N adda mileage. Either heavy foot or you f&^%cked something up.
off topic, but have your ran it in the 1/4 yet?
just wondering,
thanks,
allen
maybe you have a bad tank or 2 of fuel?
It's my father in laws and no, it hasn't been run on the track and nothing is f'd up. I was just as astonished as you guys! This truck only has 1800 miles on it. We did put some Boyd Coddington wheels on it but he kept the 17" and stock tire height. We filled the tank up with gas again and he still says it's lost mileage. Pretty strange huh? As far as a heavy foot, he probably hasn't had it over 70 mph :laugh: :laugh: :burnout:
you lost a little back psi with the duals and opened up the intake with the k&n....if you woudda just installed the k&n it prolly woudda gained a little but when you lost some back psi it took it away......sorry....you can get some back by getting rid of some of that tm and a good tune...
Same thing happened to my 2004. I added the Volant and duals and I lost a couple. But I think mine was directly related to the increased pressure of my right foot in response to loss of backpressure on the 5.3L. So I did the sensible thing.
I bought a supercharger!!!!!!! 3;
The supercharger and tune added around 3 mpg with better fuel tables.... For about a day. I just couldn't get rid of that twitch in my right foot!
Seriously, the tune can do nothing but help....
Just get a tune for it from Allen!
