Dont buy anything from those assholes. I broke a ring filing it to put in my engine. I was grinding it on a a wheel grinder and I had just squeezed it onto the wheel to grind it and turned the wheel maybe half a turn I didnt even grind the black finish off the tip of the ring and it snapped clean in half. It is obviously was a manufacturing defect. So I called JE and told them what happened the speed shop had already ordered two more from them and ahd charged them so I decided to call JE myself and tell them what happened and see if they would handle the situation correctly. I even ahve pictures and would ahve gladly emailed them to them to show that I hadnt modified the ring and the condition it was in. Well the dude answered the phone with an attitude cause the operator obviously told him what I was calling him about. He told me he wasnt going to warranty the ring and basically told me f**k off. I told him anyway what had happened that I had pictures of it and you can see how the metal failed and that I hadnt even ground off the black finish off the tip. He told me that I had modified the ring well OK it is ment to be ground where I ground the mofo at its not like I was grinding the opposite side of the damn ring. Thats BS they are a huge company and hsould stand behind their product. I could udnerstand if it was in the motor and I burnt a ring but damn it wasnt even ground right before the POS broke. He proceeded to tell me that it wasnt going to be warrantied and to have a good day. I ahd a few good words for him and hung up. That is just piss poor customer service right there. They get the rings for cents and it would have cost them ac ouple of bucks for shipping that isnt hitting them hard in the pocket book. I just gave them 700 bucks for a set of pistons the least they could do is send me a damn ring. SCREW JE pistons I will NEVER buy another set from them and I hope everyone that reads this post will not buy their products either. Rant off :tantrum:

That sucks. I hope they come to their senses

That's sorry. I guess I better just forget buying from JE then, huh. I am sure the rings are not their own design but they did spec them out to their supplier. I can hardly imagine JE building rings, though they may.

Maybe it's time to switch over to a set of total seal gapless rings? They'll be better for your application anyway.

I would go to those kind of rings but time is against me I need to get back to Texas so I have to use their rings right now. JE doesnt make their rings they have a supplier that makes them for them dont know the name of the company though. This sumer when I go to the Whipple setup I may pull the 418 and freshen it up a bit with new rings and hell mabe new pistons too if I cant get the CR I need for the Whipple to produce the hp level that I want. I ahve heard total seal is good and if this motor does get pulled it will have those put in.

that sucks  nothin worse than a company that doesnt stand behind thier products :flipoff:

Hi,
I went with the JE SRP pistons in my TBI truck and also with Total Seal. I lost three rings on that (I don't and did not use :nx: with it) within about a year. Granted, I do drive hard (you can tell with all the 'kills' I post).
Mahle seems reputable, but I don't know. I thought JE was reputable AND Total Seal for that matter.....
Hope your next decisions get better results.....

I have a feeling this summer the motor is going to get pulled again and gone through and Ill replace pistons and rings with something else and Ill probably go ahead and bore the block out to 4.125 bore and have a 438

you could write a letter and address it to the CEO of JE pistons. Just a little something to get there attention should do alright.
