Got a torch and welder? You might have to move the spring perches but other than that you guys should have no problem putting it in. You'll need a brake proportioning valve. I'd look to see if the master cylinder from a late model would work also so you'll have the correct amount of fluid for the disc brakes. People bolt on disc brakes using an adapter plate all the time and use the factory master cylinder. The proportioning valve will probably straighten out the flow issues.
What are you going to do, have 5 bolts on the front wheels and 6 bolts on the rears?
Yes. If it work's I'll have 5 lug in the frount and 6 lug in the rear. IM getting a good deal on a 05 rear end, wheel's and tire's. :thumb:Quote:

Hahaha! I like the torch and welder idea! You already have a 12 bolt in that truck if it still has the factory rear. I would think rear disks would just lock up better than drums! LOL Don't forget about e-brake cables.
You'll have to put a line-lock in if you want to stage in the waterbox at the track. four wheel disc brakes are a bitch to brake stall.
might want to keep the drums, gm is going back to drum rears for some reason, i dont think the disk breaks last to long( ive hade problems with rotors on my previous z-r2 truck and my wifes previous z-r2 blazer) anybody know 4 sure why they went back to drum in 05?
Don't know why they went back, but I have had problems with the rear breaks on my yukon since I got it. I just figured it was the 22's and and a$$ load of weight.
I assumed the drums are cheaper for them. Didnt they keep the disks on the tahoes and suburbans? and maybe some high end trucks?
I am not sure on any of these statements :)
Dave
I read that they were having too much trouble with the parking brakes on the rear discs. Trucks go offroading and get crap up in the parking brakes area and the drivers don't clean them. Later on the brakes are destroyed and customers are unhappy. To keep the customers happy they took the discs off of all vehicles that may go off road.
Ya that rearend IM getting does have drum brake's. Well in the trash w/ that idea.
GM went back to drum's because they could not get the E- brake on the disc set up to work right.
GMCwantLS1- My truck has a 10 bolt. I thought all the RCSB 1/2 tons did.
How much do you think I can get for a low mile 05 rearend?
