Update on the beater

The truck is running smooth now. But' will not shift. Ya'll where right, it has to be starting out in 2nd or 3rd gear. It was hard to tell since I never drove the truck before. ( Plus having 3.08 in it)

There is a yellow wire and a purpel w/ white strip wire that was cut. The wire's are coming from that round plug on the trany. I need to find a wiring diagram to see where they go.

Let me now what you find REDHARTBEAT when you get home.

Test resistance values
E & A = 1-2 SHIFT SOLENOID = 20-40 Ohms
E & B = 2-3 SHIFT SOLENOID = 20-40 Ohms
E & S = 3-2 CONTROL SOLENOID = 9-14 Ohms
E & T = TCC SOLENOID = 20-40 Ohms
C & D = PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID = 3.5-8 Ohms
L & M = TEMPERATURE SENSOR = 2.9-4.0 kOhms

Get a scanner on the truck too, if the pcm isn't getting any vss signal, it will not shift right. I experienced that on my first install on my truck, a looong time ago. The truck wouldn't shift until 4Krpms and it was inconsistant.

Looks like your on your way to sorting this out. If you still have problems once you get your wiring figured out let me know. I have the flow charts for this. Tells you what do step by step and what to do if Ohms are out of range and what to test next Ohms to ground etc.. I would have to fax them though as Alldata wont let me copy/paste or save it to disc.

my swap I used a painless harness, I had misread the instructions since it came with plugs for the 4l80 and 4l60. I hooked up the in to the out or something like that and it did like Allen said it shifted at 4 grand, I reread the instructions and got it hooked up right and it has been fine ever since. Well except when I go to second gear there is this squeeling sound I get from the rear area of the truck. well come to think of it it happens when I take off too, depending on the weight of my right shoe it varies in intensity :)

If I had the money I would have bought one your bad ass harness from you along time ago. If I would of had that harness this truck would have been running 3mth's ago.

The purple wire and the yellow wire where not coming from the round conector. They are coming from the large rectangel conector above the shift lever. Any ideas what these are?

At the PCM M = BLACK TO BLUE 53 / M = TEMPERATURE SENSOR GROUND (LOW)
is cut. Also blue 49 VSS 128k Out YEL/BLK (pin E of blue 12 pin connector) is cut from the PCM will this make it run bad?

I pulled apart most of the wiring everthing else looks to be OK. If what I found isn't the problem I guess I'll be trying to find someo one w/ a tech II.

How can I tell if it's just the shift module thats bad?

The transmission temp wire needs to be repaired. You go into limp mode because the PCM doesn't know if the trans has overheated or not so it should go into safe mode. Purple and Yellow are the feed lines to your speedometer.
