Ok i have seen people putting ls1 intakes on 6.0s. Can i do that on my 4.8? If not what heads do i need to us and with my tb work on an ls1 intake? can i use ls1 heads and will my headers fit the ls1s? Also are the blocks diffent from the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 or is it the same block diffrent bore and stroke? Any info will help thanks.

It will fit you may have to switch to an ls1 accessory drive due to the intake inlet hight. Enless you have some major mods or are planning on some its not worth it. You will lose some bottom end because that little 4.8 dosent have enough cylinder volume to benifit from the increased intake volume. It will help your top end, though I don't know how much. :twocents: I'm not sure about the engine blocks.

I think the truck water pump neck gets in the way of the LS1throttle body arm. I may be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

well im fixing to add a Z06 cam and i thought if i had to take some of the heads appart and inake off or whatever i have to do that i would swap in some that will perform better. What is the diffrence in the 6.0 and 4.8 and would i be better off porting? What im really wanting to know is other than a tune what will support my cam more/best? I was hoping to get in the 14 with tune intake cam headers and exhaust.

Why not just swap out the 4.8 for a 6.0L or 5.7L LS1 engine? You will gain more than doing all that work to the 4.8. I have seen guys sell complete 6.0 truck engines for less than $1000 many times. I got my 98 LS1 engine and transmission for $1400. Bone stock the LS1 puts out 400 hp at the crank.

You can recoup some of the cost by selling your take-out engine.

I watch GMFS, FSC, Corvetteforum, LS1Tech and DFWLS1's sales sections. It's all a matter of timing. Some times you can find a salvage yard looking to turn fast money and get complete engines really cheap. I live in DFW and salvage yards are a dime a dozen. Competition is fierce here.
