i came out of the driveway last night i goosed it so the tires would turn over then let out. coasted a few feet and their was a loud pop then the truck died wont start back. took it back home to the garage and tried to turn the motor over by hand but it will only go so far then catch. any suggestions on what this could be. i am going to start taking her apart tomorrow. do you think it could be a dropped valve or a broken piston rod or what? please help in any way. or is it telling me that it is time for a 408?
What size pushrods should ia use? Should i go with a double roller timing chain? Would it also be best for me to use arp bolts? any help on anyhting to make it a better motor would be very helpful.

Check for bent push rods, valves and last but not least a tossed rod cap. Fear of broken rod bolts is why I replaced my stock ones with ARP bolts. Pull the spark plugs first just to be sure you didn't just hydraulic the engine with coolant or fuel.

when it popped it then house something like a glass shattering should then smoke came out from underneath the truck but not from the exhaust
-
Sounds like maybe you shattered the starter ring/flex plate?
-
changed starters and still nothing flywheel looks ok from what i can see. but it will be saturday before i can take it apart.

I broke two rods in three place shaddered 2 pistons and put a whole in the side of the block it even put a few small marks on my cam so it looks like it is time for the 408 after all.
what would be the best cam for the 408 stroker. i am going with the eagle kit.

Damn the luck! Oh well, playtime he you come. Eagle or Scat make good affordable crankshaft kits. Scat is a little cheaper and the quality is really good IMO. Whatever cam you get, be sure you get some shaft mounted rockers so you don't bend push rods.

i am going with the 402 eagle forged setup with the thunder racing t rex cam what do you think about that setup. i might even go na on this motor and just take the nitrous off of my truck. and i going with 7.4 thunder racing hardened pushrods or maybe even comp ones. what compresion do you recomend for me with the cam it si .242 .248 .608 .612 110 lsa.

Those large overlaps are going bleed off a lot of static compression. I'd be surprised if you couldn't run 12:1 static compression on that large of a camshaft. I believe that COMP makes the pushrods for TR. I have one COMP and 15 TR rods and they all look exactly the same except the laser etching.

so would you recomend me running a different cam if so give examples of some please.
