ok the tiny exhaust leak that is caused by one of my headerbolts that snapped off is pissing me off... its the factory bolt nd i have no idea how it snapped off but i was wondering if there was any easy way of going about taking the bastard out without pulling the head... its kinda tight to get an ezout on it but any suggestions?

I try to mig weld a bolt to the end of the broken piece. I grind an angle on the end that I am going to weld to the broken piece so I can get weld penetration. The heat of the weld helps to loosen the bolt. Run a tap back through the hole when finished.

should i cover my engine and shit ... i know that welds like to bun stuff like its thier job

But of course. Always cover anything you don't want to get burned. You can weld a short piece of tube instead of a bolt. You can weld through the inside of the tube and use the tube as a guide to help reduce spatter.

ya that POS bolt snapped on mine too and I had never touched the ex manifolds before. I had the dealership replace my exhaust gaskets and thats where they found it, I had no idea i thought i just had blown gaskets. They didnt charge me for the bolt, just the gaskets though, so I got lucky.

hate to pop your bubble but jerry had to remove his head to get his bbroke bolt out :bash:
-
Oh, man. That sucks to have been Jerry. If it's any thing like an LS1 it's not a tough thing to do though.

ur lucky chris i wish someone else could deal with my headaches but i dont wanna spend lotsa $$
-
yeah i didnt wanna spend the money either, thats why i'm glad they didnt charge me, I was having my knock sensors replaced too so i guess they thought i was having enough headache.

Same problem here. I was taking the exhaust manifolds off to install Dynomax SS LT headers. The driver side exhaust manifold bolt against the firewall was broken. I drilled the bolt & tried an EZ out. I broke the EZ out. I then made a drill guide and drilled the EZ out with a carbide bit. I went up one size on the EZ out, applied heat to the area around the broken bolt. It STILL wouldn't budge. I ended up pulling the head this weekend
