It's attached to the sending unit and pump as I recall... pretty lame :thumbdown:

I bet that makes it a bitch to change the filter regularly.
Hey, its really very simple. It might take you a while to do it the first time... but its like a 10 min job. This is how I do them.
You will need at least a Nylon type strap wrench. I use a pair of 48" Knipex aligator pliers :)
After loosening the water drain valve and draining any water. Unplug the electrical connection from the water in fuel sensor (WIF) bottom of filter and move it out of the way. (THE WIF SENSOR HAS A PIGTAIL THATS DOWN BY THE FENDER) Dont rip the wires out of the bottum of the filter. Now Loosen the filter housing with the strap wrench or whatever untill you can unscrew it by hand. You will be looking DOWN!! on this filter so you will need to turn it clockwise to loosen from your view.
You may want to remove the passenger side wheel well flap to start so you can see whats going on better. It will also be easier to get the filter out that way. I take them out through the top. Its a tight squeeze, but you can push a little on the AC lines a little but be carfull of the Liquid line.
You will have to swap the water drain valve from old filter to new. I put a little oil on the O-ring, Then snug it up firm or it will seep fuel. The water drain screw itself just needs to be finger tight.
Put the new big O-ring in the top. When you put the filter back on and hand tighten it Then snug it up .
Open the vent screw (flat head screw) and Pump the hand pump (button on top of filter head) Until fuel begins seeping out, Then close the vent and try to start the truck. If it won't start, or won't keep running, repeat the priming process.

Yeah, it had me confused at first. An LSx diesel engine. I've heard of the pinging before but never rattling. :laugh:
lol.. I just assumed it was a diesel sice they could not find it. I just checked in AllData its in the tank and there are no service intervals required....
