MAF Location. Can it be anywhere along the intake tube?

Hi. I am finishing the 5.3 swap into my 97 2 door Tahoe and one of the things I am wondering is if there will be any problems if I move the MAF Sensor closer to the throttle body?

I've seen some located right on the throttle body with the air filter right on the other side. I'm not looking to do that, but I would like to explore the idea of sucking the air through my cowl induction hood.

I've seen issues with the Maf being mounted too far from the throttle body but not too close.
Just keep it within the stock location and it'll be fine.
Not too much further than the stock location.
