Well...How's it comming?
I know you had the front suspension put together. You have your motor.
Have you finished the rear suspension yet? What about installing the drivetrain?
Inquiring minds want to know.

It's slowly going, I don't like to release too much info publically, I like to keep the suspense up, hahha jk.Quote:

I don't think I've officially posted all of the mods, just bits and pieces in other threads, so here it is.
408 stroker, forged, 8.5cr, 230/228 cam.
T76, intercooler, I haven't decided on boost, probably about 20psi.
I think I've changed my mind on the trans: TH400, transbrake, reverse vb, 3000 stall.
5/7 drop, all new bushings
Airride 4link w/ shockwave
Got most of my roll cage in
Taking it to the paint shop in a few weeks.
If any of you have something in mind, I want some light racing wheels, 15" is fine. Preferably skinnies on the front, fattys in the back.
This should get me deep in the 10's, if I need to, I'll install my nitrous kit.
If I can get the front wheels off the ground just an 1", that will be cool.
It's getting close to race day, hopefully I'll have enough time to get it all done.
thanks for asking, and I'll see you soon!
allen
they make the weld draglites as wide as 14" and as narrow as 4" both @ 15"tall. not a bad looking wheel either. good luck getting it ready in time and hope you get the times your shooting for :thumb:
Cool, gonna be down low. That won't be the old farmtruc but what they hay, it's still there somewhere deep down inside. Are you getting a narrowed rear end or are you going to put flares on it to cover super wide tires?
he's gettin it done for shure...every time i sneak up on him he's out there yanking springs out the back or something...the motor is setting in the truck right now.it's coming along pretty good.shure gonna be one hell of a farmtruc when he gets done with it!! :thumb:
That's very trick going with the Turbo 400 trans. Are you having it built or doing it yourself. What about fabricating the crossmember and stuff like that? Are you going to use a torque arm? Sounds like you might need it with that monster motor!
Any other details about how you set up the 400 would be great when you got some time.
Thanks Slamma,Quote:

It's so hard to decide what the best route is, it's going to be a race truck, so i'm not too worried about the overdrive, but it would be nice!
The TH400 is being built by only the best!!! Chuck over at FLT. His knowledge on transmissions is far superior than anyone I've ever dealt with. We all know Parish and how his transmissions are holding up. When I do it, I just want to forget about it and not mess with it anymore, not like my previous setup that was rebuilt 4 times, in one year!! And that was only on 5psi!
I haven't thought about a torque arm, what your opinions on this? I'd like some feedback on it if you don't mind.
I'll keep you updated on the 400 , it will be a while because I'm going to run the 80E for a bit, but I'll swithc over soon.
thanks,
allen
Sounds killer on the 400 build. Keep us posted.Quote:

This one goes in the category of INE (i'm no expert), but i don't see how a torque arm could hurt.
A torque arm's probably meant as much for helping cornering traction, but would aid straight line traction also. They definately control rear end torque from that motor and tansfer more of it to the tires :burnout:
You can get f-body models that you could get to work w/ some fabrication i guess. I figured you'd probably have to modify/fabricate the crossmember anyhow.
Check these out:

I've also seen them w/ integrated drive shaft loops.
Good luck!
Allen, are you going to be running CalTracs? If you do the flip kit you are going to have a different axle mount bracket than the stock truck had. I've considered those myself and I don't have anywhere near 800 hp.
:imwstupid: Track proven. That's my next major mod, even w/ a stock height street machine.Quote:
