ok i got my tune a couple weeks ago and day and night diffrence (thank you allen) well we tuned it for 89 and 93 octane i ran a full tank of 93 while we did the street tune....
then a couple days ago i ran some 89 cause of the gas prices and at half pedel to heavy i could hear the pinging really badly...
what do you guys think??? i ended up putting half a tank of 93 back in the truck to stop the pinging...
does the computer need to still relearn with 89???

I have the 87-89 tune and its doing the same thing.Im going to get some additive for the gas......3.20 and its probablly 80 octane here in Fort Worth. We are gettin screwed ...twice the price and lower quality.Maybe Allen can help us.

I have a 87/89 dual tune in mine, and Allen told me that if I run a tank of 89 and switch back to 87, I need to give it probably a couple days to let the PCM relearn with the 87. So far, that has been exactly the case

hey this "pinging" what does it sound like excatly ivew never had the issu well atleast i dont think so but have always been wondering what it sounds like
-
It sounds like dropping marbles into a glass jar. Drop them in 10-15 per second and you have the sound.
-
ok well i dont have a jar of marbles handy so ill take your word for it lol

I had that pinging issue when I had my 99 PCM, with the 01 it has gone away so far. It will ping the first couple of days or so, just until you drive the PCM a few miles to let it relearn the timing curve.
