Whats Normal Oil Pressure In a 5.3 @ operatin temperature :duh: , Mine has been gettin lower and lower......(tick tick tick) :eek: I think the 5.3 is finally on its way out... 3 transmissions and 1 rearend, hmmmm... I wonder what wil die next :laugh: I guess I better start lookin for a 6.0 a Year earlier than I anticipated :nutz:
You could just throw a high volume pump in there to stretch out it's life. Be sure you change your oil and filter then check your pressure.

Your pressure sending unit may be giving you false readings, also.
:eek: hmm..., that high volume pump sounds like a good idea :smile: Thanks for the Advice, gonna buy one tomorrow :rock: , and um, the valve train clatter reminds allong with the gauge tell me I have Low oil pressure :lol: Changed oil and filter many times, every 3,000 miles, I run Mobil 1 and el cheapo brand oil filters.. a motor that has lasted me 108,000 is a first for me :nutz:
rear main seal seems agitated also, my little 5.3 started marking its territory :laugh: my neighbor told me my......? Bearings are toast, the ones that keep the crank from walkin back and forth, I cant rememberthe name of them for the life of me, what are they called?walk, clearance,thrust,shim,oil pressure keepers j/k I cant frikin remember! :duh:

Yeah my valvetrain clatter has gotten much louder since the cam install, would installing the Z06 cam demand a higher oil pressure? I installed the stock Z06 springs to go along with the cam. I might look into a higher volume pump also.

I don't know of anyone but Scoggins Dickey that can get you the oil pump. Its a pump from the new 2005 5.3L LH6 displacement on demand trailblazers. GM had been hoarding them up till the last couple of weeks. It has a 20% increase in volume, which should help those oil starved bearings. :thumb:
Part number is 12571885 and cost me $72.72.
Oil pressure decrease is simply bearing wear. Once it gets less than 10psi at idle begin to worry.
Nice price, much cheaper than a ported pump and probally more volume than that too.Quote:

Did A Quick and Dirty Fix for My oil Pressure prob, till the pump gets here, Runnin straight 50wt oil :duh: It actually helped ! :nutz: Is that Going to break anythin? :jump:
Damn, that is pretty severe. I guess it will make it look like all is okay.
