Problem with my new performance tune PCM

I just received my new PCM in the mail and didn't waste anytime getting it installed. I was super excited since I was told to expect 30 RWHP on 91 octane, so I completely expected a noticeable difference. Unfortunately I don't notice a damn thing, and I mean nada. Still a dog off the line, nothing new on the top end, etc. I called the shop I ordered it from and was told I needed to drive a couple hundred miles for my truck to learn and adjust to the tune. Is this true, or complete nonsense??? I am seriously bummed....
