rocker/pushrod/lifter issue

so i swapped to ls7 lifters in my 6.0 lq4 and went to a 233/239 comp cam and PRC .650 dual springs . 7.350 pushrods . when i put the push rods into place i can push them in and out about a 1/8th inch. the old ones i didnt seem to be able to move.
Then my other problem is when i torque the rockers to 22 ft lbs they have up and down play from the push rods being able to go in and out, is that normal?
is that the preload that ive heard about?
first time on my own and wanna make sure im not blowing this thing up on my first start.

or could it just be that there dry and have no oil in them, i soaked them in oil for 45 min or so in oil before install...

Ya that's not normal. I can't remember exactly right now but I think around 0.030" preload is about what ur looking for. Shouldn't be any play.

They haven't pumped up with oil yet..that's normal. After about the first min or so of run time they should pump up

if the heads are on and you did soak them, pour some oil down there, keep cranking over the engine until it build pressure for a bit, just to be safe.
it'll be noisy initially.

Take Allen's advice. After they are primed roll the cam on the base circle. Take rocker to 0 lash. Then torque to 22ftlbs and count the number of turns. Iirc should be between 3/4 and 1 1/4 turns to 22. More than that you need a longer pr and less you shorter. I could be wrong though always best to measure.
