Do I need an aftermarket Tranny Cooler?

I popped off the front fascia and found that I had a tranny cooler. So, the question is "Do I need the B&M one?".

I have a Transgo HD shift kit with Billet 1-2 and OD servos. Also have Dynatech LT headers with Granatelli Cold Air box. Will have electric fans installed and also have a tune done on the PCM to remove the abuse mode and Torque Management. The radiator is a 34 inch one with an oil cooler and a tranny fluid cooler in front of the condenser. Truck will be used for some spirited driving and towing of a 4500 lbs boat or a 2 place ATV trailer. The vehicle is an 02 GMC Yukon XL. TIA

It never hurts to have the trans cooler. The one you have is good since it is part of GM's trailer package if it came on your truck. The standard B&M is just an aftermarket equal to the factory one.

I would have one on it. It will extend the life of your trans a lot longer. Mine goes through the radiator one and another one I installed, but I have a stall in it to. You would definately need one then.

Yeah you can get by with your stocker for now, but later down the road if you ad a stall you will need one a lot bigger if you want it to last. Tranny Cooler are just added insurance for that trans. Cooler you can keep it less problems your going to have. :imwstupid:

So just to clarify, I have the one that goes thru the radiator and then to an external cooler. What you are saying is that I should remove the stock external one and replace it with a B&M External cooler?

No - keep the trans fluid running thru the rad first - then out to a trans cooler - then back to your transmission.
