Ever since the swap I've had no charge. Votl gauge will not ever rise to 14v. New batt and new wires. I've tried a new alt and same issue. Checked voltage at alt post and same as battery. Autozone tested and said draw from starter, so I replaced that and didn't fix it. I trickle charge the batt and I can drive it for quite a while so it has a slow draw I believe. Anyone had similar issues? Any help would be great!
Sounds like a bad ground causing a drain on the battery. Had a similar issue when I installed an amp in my truck.
Haha autozone idiots are so funny. A starter has 0 draw unless its turning. But, which alt are you running, 2 wire plug or 4 wire plug? If its the 4 wire plug, make sure the wire going into it is on and off with the key. If it is live all the time it will run your batt down.
Care to elaborate on this? At initial startup my truck will be a 14 volts but will eventually decrease. Got to the point if I stepped on the brake with my headlights on that it would shut off an HID since it wasn't getting enough power, even now my radio will cut out if I hit the brakes.Quote:

Does your pos wire from the back of the alt run strait to the battery, or does it go elsewhere? It honestly sounds like you have a loose ground somewhere. Could be anywhere. Make sure you have a good firewall to block, block to frame, and block to battery connection and all your body grounds (headlights, tail lights, etc.)
Thanks for all the replys and help. This whole time it's just a bad ground on the alt bracket. All good now! I should've know since its all painted. Lol
That really got me thinking about my battery grounds, so last night I checked and I have a battery to block and battery to body (some bracket on the inner fender).
I really have no idea what I was thinking whenever I did the swap, so I've found a project for me to do on Sunday :lol:
