L33 block decking
Taking my block to the machine shop next weekend and need to know how much I can shave off. I have searched all over the web and can't find any info. I would like to raise the cp a little bit and I came up with 10.34 :1 if I get .020 taken off. I just want to make sure It will not mess up the block by taking to much off. Thanks.

Search intrawebz for compression ratio calculator. Not static and dynamic. Read up on both the decide where you want it.

Ok thanks. Ya I've already decided to deck the block I just didn't know how much I could take off without rendering the block useless lol. I have a book on rebuilding ls motors but it is not specific on this subject. .020 would get me where I want to be.

you need to talk to a engine designer and or builder, if you mention what youre wanting to achieve they'll asist you! theres other ways of accomplishing compression without milling the deck.

I would deck the heads before touching the block. A stock l33 piston is gunna stick out of the hole around 0.006. If you knock off 0.020 that only leaves you with .0.025 between the piston and head with a 0.051 gasket.

Ya maybe I went to the wrong machine shop but he told me to research if it was possible or not. Lol he hasn't seen the block yet to measure. If I did the heads .020 off would that cuase intske alignment issues or valve clearance issues? I read where somebody did that much on a ls6 but I think the ls6 has dished pistons.

The cam I'm using is the trick flow 216/220 with .560 lift

You can go up to 0.035 off the heads without alignment issues and as always you should check PTV. But that cam wont have any issues with clearance!
