The 6.2L/4L80E Conversion is finally done!
The conversion is finally done. 5 years in the making and I have finally worked out all the bugs. The truck is driving but I now have to deal with the issues that arise after the truck has sat for 5 years. You may ask why has it set for five years and it was due to funds and finding the right person to help diagnose the problems.
History.
This project started by having a bad batch of comp cam 928 springs and it dropped a valve on the 5.3. While looking for a new motor my transmission guy at a local dealership had a 6.2L out of a 2008 Escalade that had dropped a valve and was being swapped. The motor had 3000 miles on it and he sold it to me for $300. It was a deal i could not pass up. I started the project with the plan of following the instructions that I found on LS1 tech. But lucky me I had a one off or just bad luck because the parts that should have worked for the swap just didn't. To get it to a running state I had to convert the 2004 silverado over to a drive by cable and had to swap the computer to one out of a GTO. Lucky me once again the GTO tune would not work with my system. So after a little more research we flashed it to a chevy van tune. I also had to replace the lingenfelter conversion box to a new one that had a dedicated power since the one I had previously had would quit working if it go to hot. The final piece to get it working was to have a local transmission shop run a dedicated power to the transmission. Luckily I had a tuner here in College Station that was willing to help me. Nelson Performance did all that they could to help me during this conversion but the distance just was not working. I look to having him check the tune at some point to see if he would make any changes.
I realize I have been absent from the forums and it had to do with the level of frustration I had toward the conversion. Well I am back and look forward to talking with everyone again.
