I am considering a CAI for my 2013 Sikverado Z71 w/5.3 liter engine. Are these worth it or are they just something flashy under the hood to make a little more noise?

By themselves not really but every little bit helps. Later down the road it'll compliment other mods.
Well, I won't be doing any performance mods anytime in the foreseeable future. I'm guessing your recommendation is to hold off on wasting my money on it?
A cai on a newer truck will be mostly a noise maker. The stock intake is reasonably good. If you were to do other mods a cai would be more beneficial. The difference stock will be less than 10hp if you had a cam and tune or other work done it might free up more power. As for now a custom tune would be a better mod.
Thanks for the input.
FWIW, Black Bear Performance did a dyno test on several CAI. The one that gave the most increase to the rear wheels (9 HP - 10 TQ) was the Airaid MIT (modular intake tube). You retain, and use your factory air box.
I've already got a drop in K&N, so I went with the AirAid MIT. It will be in today, so we will see how it does. Thanks, LOBO!
I'm curious on this as well. Unfortunately you won't be able to noticed much difference in a heavy truck.
Installed the MIT last night. There is defiantly a noticeable difference in throttle response and WOT sounds impressive.
