Using MP3 as a Head Unit
Here is what I did, it may or may not be good, but I am experimenting right now. And can change things around easily. All I need and want is a basic tunes package, just a crisp clean sound. I already know where everything is going to be located. First the MP3, it can be an android, apple, or any other type of MP3. But with technology and apps I will still have access to listen to any radio station I choose.
Okay from the MP3 unit I got this: Belva AUX2RCA (AUX-2-RCA) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...AUX-2-RCA.html
Then to this: (for volume control)PAC LC1 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5260_PAC-LC1.html
to a 3' rca male to male cable into this: AudioControl OVERDRIVE (OVERDRIVE PLUS) White http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...SearchClickout[query_id]=20241983&SearchClickout[Ignore]=1
And finally to this amp: Pioneer PRS-D800 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...SearchClickout[query_id]=20242020&SearchClickout[Ignore]=1 This hooked up to the overdrive plus via a male to male rca cable. Hopefully this makes sense. Pl4yboy (Justin) helped in picking the amp and the amp install kit. These are the component speakers I am using with no sub. Infinity Reference Series 6000cs 6-1/2". I may decide to add a sub later on but for now this will do.

All this is going through the stock head unit I'm assuming? That's pretty clean if so and where do you plan on running the iPod/mp3 cable? I'm defiantly a fan of a good sounding radio with a stock look

I am not running a stock head unit, or an aftermarket. If I want to listen to the radio, I can use the iheartradio app. Or if I want to listen to my music then I have that choice.

I started with this, it is an adapter for an aftermarket radio to connect to factory wiring.

I cut it down to just use the power side of it. And then connected it to the factory power. This allowed it to have switched power for the amp signal wire and the AudioControl box.

Here is the backside after drilling a few holes and using a zip tie.

And the front, volume on the left and 3.5mm cable to rca on the right. And the power cable for the phone.

And the front.

I also want one of these to mount the phone on, or try to fabricate something. Steelie Car Mount Kit

Very well done Art. How does it sound?

Thanks, if I decide to use a sub I have to buy another piece of equipment from audiocontrol. I haven't hooked up the system all the way. My first priority is getting the truck back on the road and then finish putting it back together.
