I got a new truck

I finally broke down and bought a new truck. Now i need some ideas as to what i should do to it. I bought an 05' ecsb with the 6.0 HO and 20's with 3.73's. It has everything but leather. I was really hoping to buy a turbo but i dont want to kill my gas mileage too much. I was wanting to beat my brother in laws hemi single cab. He has a tune, air intake, headers, and exhaust. but i dont know what all it will take. Maybe if i just get the turbo kit since that would take care of the air intake and headers and the tune all in one. Will the stock drivetrain handle the turbo though? Anyhow i was hoping that one of yall could give me some insight on what things to put on it and what kind of power gian i will notice. :burnout:

intake, exhaust and a nelson tune aughta put that hemi to shame. a buddy of mine has the same truck and it went 14.3 with only an intake and nelson tune. turbos can make your gas milage better but your drivetrain wont handle it for long without any upgrades. if i remember right the VHO trucks come with the 4L60E transmission and its the weakest link in your drivetrain. we have a few transimssion guys here who can tell you what parts you would need to beef it up to take the abuse.

The window sticker says its a heavy duty 4 speed automatic so i was guessing its maybe a 4L80 to cope with the lq9? Im not sure i havent looked under my truck yet. Im trying to stay away from putting it on a lift at work cause i know i wont be able to handle not putting an exhaust on it. Everybody at work has a pool going around to see if my truck will last a week before it gets a new exhaust, so if i can just keep my truck off the rack for the rest of this week im safe, after a week ill find out. I did notice however that my truck has dual factory electric fans. I guess e fans were something new for 05'. I dont know if i can afford a Nelson tune or not. I havent tried to see how much they are. I was really looking forward to a sts though. We will see when i sellmy other trucks. :burnout:

If you drive sanely (it's very hard to do) a turbo can yield better fuel mileage. I get 19 on the hwy in my 5.3. crew cab. Nelson tune is about $500.00 and worth every penny.

It should be the 4L65E tranny.

Ummmm Dunno about that.. I'd guess 4L85e since its the 6.0L.. I was reading that since GM went with the RWD only option for the Silvy SS's that the transmission and rear differential are being upgraded (Transmission to 85e)... I dont know why any other truck would be different ???

Correct me if I am wrong.. Hopefully its the 80e/85e.. Thats alot of mass to move with the 6.0L pushing so hard its gonna make the 65e cry for sure..
