Driveshaft question and input on trans specs

All I like now is fans, coolant in the system and the trans topped off with fluid and my swap is complete.... but I have a few questions

I used dirty dingo mounts and a trans from a 2001 silverado in my 98 tahoe 2WD swap.. when It came time to bolt up the cross member I had to notch the slot for the trans mount bolt forward little over and inch.. put in the driveshaft and it's too short in my opinion, I am planning a 4/6 drop for it soon... is this normal for the driveshaft to be short?? the engine is slid as far to the rear as possible on the new dingo mounts,,, Are the later model 4L60E transmissions shorter that the original one that was in the tahoe before this swap?

Not sure of which mounts you have but in order to put an LS engine into an OBS, it generally takes the 1" setback to the rear engine mounts in order for the transmission/crossmember to bolt back up in it's original position.

My engine/trans is also mounted 1" forward of where it should be due to having the wrong mounts. I haven't had any problems with the rear driveshaft although the front driveshaft was a little tight getting in. Already have 2500 miles on the swap and haven't had any problems with the shafts.

I have the dirty dingo mounts, i read up on them and they allow the engine to be set back 1/2 inch, I am thinking when I lower it that will put the driveshaft forward and will make up for what I lost.....

Not sure. When I ordered my mounts(not Dirty Dingo),I didn't do my homework. I ordered mounts that put the engine in the "Standard Position". To me, that meant the the new engine would be in the prime position for the transmission and shafts to be back in their original position. Ended up my position was 1" forward. I didn't find out 'til I went to mount up the transmission cross member. The trans mount was 1" forward of the holes in the crossmember. I simply slotted the holes to accomodate the mount. The rear driveshaft worked but the front was snug due to the transfer case being 1" forward of where it should be in relation to the front axle.

Where ya located? I can shorten, re balance, and paint it all up for 60 bucks.
