Flex Fuel Conversion
Has anyone completed an LS conversion in an older truck (80s) and went all the way with the Flex Fuel requirements? Besides the engine, what on the truck/gas tanks has to be changed to run E85? If so, did you do a build thread or have the parts list required?

What's the advantage of running e 85?

I was totally surprised, but I have seen dyno charts actually showing an increase in both HP and torque using e85 over regular gas. I'll try to locate those charts again and post them here.

Wow crazy! Guess it's all about how it's tuned and supporting mods?! After Nelson tuned my 08 flex fuel for cam and stall and stuff they said not to run e85! I'd like to read up on it also! And If you havnt started the ls swap its simple! Just finished mine up bout a month ago!

OK, I admit that this came from a GM website :ummm:.... but this is why I am looking into making the whole truck E85 compatible. I am installing a LC9 in my 82.

I would have to think that all the rubber lines/O-rings would have to be changed in order to be compatible with E-85. I would definitely do some homework on the subject before tackling that task. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

If your not going forced induction I wouldn't even consider e85.

You will have to redo all your fuel lines to be compatiable with E85 and the correct fuel pump.E85 does make more horsepower but you will also get worse gas mileage.

I agree with what gagliano7 said. To bad they dont make ethanol out of sugar cane, that way you get the same octane and fuel milage as gasoline. I hate to even say this but shippman might be on to something by converting over now, since our government will be mandating a larger % of ethanol in gas as the years go by. Crap,I hate to go back to 9 mpg again and trash my engine. Didn't want to start anything political but I did read that somewhere recently.

Thanks, Guys... My thoughts were if I was totally compatible then I could try it to make up my own mind about E85. If I don't like it I can go back. I'll keep researching and if I do the conversion I'll post a thread on it. Thanks again.
