I would actually get a higher stall converter before that cam is installed; you'll be fighting the pedals at stop lights and wont be happy with the high idle with a stock converter.
Get a 3600 stall converter, trans cooler and 160stat. Bypass the trans cooler embedded in the radiator.
Get some headers and an ory asap.
4.10 gears later to compliment the setup.
don't rush into it just to have a camm'd truck, get the supporting mods.
I 100% agree with Allen, sure the cam is gonna sound mean and will wake the truck up but trust me fighting the pedals are not fun. I geared then cammed my truck but you will definatly like driving the truck more with a stall I work at a performance shop and have seen countless cars come and go like that we get the same response a month or down the road, should have put a converter in with the cam. I'm now redoing my setup and puting a converter in due to my boss hounding me when a customer asks to ride in my truck to see if they really want a cam, most go ahead and get a cam but I have so much tuning time in my truck just to make it drive able I've lost about 30 hp just to keep it from falling on its face at a stop light or in a parking lot. 3500-3600 with the cam you have stated will be great, long tubes, gears, ORY, later down the road and you will be a very happy customer.
Very agressive cam for a stock 5.3 like has been mentioned you will need a good stall to make it work.
I have the same cam and with a 3k rpm converter it still tries to push through the brakes a little bit at stops. I suggest you save for the converter as well. But hey, it's your truck.
4k converter ftw!
224/230 .589/.598 110+4 is what I have a 3600 is still a bit tight, sending it back to get restalled to 4200

on the very last spring it all went down hill. rocker bolt broke off and it was the one closest to the firewall on the driver side. and me being impatient trying to drill into it and attempt to use a screw extractor it broke off in the bolt.

pullung the head to see if it would be easier out of the truck and it wasnt. thankfully a buddy of mine just so had a 4.8 with 862's on it. so out with the castech 706's which was the better part of having to swap heads.
