4l60e problems
Okay, little back ground.
Christmas day, drove the truck fine, shifted great no signs of slippage.,
Went to go back in a parking spot no reverse, but i had forward gears.
Drove it around the parking lot lost forward gears, pushed it into a parking spot and let it sit, went back out after 30 min shifted through all gears as normal, with little to no slippage. It has repeated this process about 4 times now. Just looking for some opinions on what could be wrong, thanks!

The truth is in the pan! Pull it and look for excessive clutch material. Is the fluid burnt?
-
Yes, but why would it work one day, then not the next, then work again?
-
Because their is probly trash in the pan. I.e. burnt clutch material or metal shavings and it sucks up to filter making loose pump pressure. Then when u let it sit for a while it all falls back to bottom and settles. Then u have pressure again till it stops back up. Kinda like a bad fuel filter. Same diff. Trash.

^ what he said, also try and keep from driving it until you find out, the more it slips the more youre gonna have to replace ( rebuild ) the trans. take it you checked the fluid level?

They're right, the filter is stopping up. If it has a ton of miles and you are super lucky, it may be stopped up with normal wear. You can try replacing the filter but 99% of the time, it's only delaying the inevitable. Typically, if the filter stops up, something is coming apart.
