wiring harness help
im working on removing my 97 5.7 vortec engine
im going to replace it with a 5.3
need a little help fellas
what size screw is holding the connector for the wiring harness on the driver side?
i can feel something but i cant see it
also how do i remove the beige connector on driver side
i have pried and pulled but no dice

Just cut the harness lol, you are going to be swapping over to a different setup anyways

MrHorsepowerLSx makes a good suggestion to cut it, out of all the wires on there you will only be integrating a few of them back to work with your factory gauges. Removing it is not that hard. In the center is a tiny 1/4" bolt that holds all the sections together (if yours is like mine, which mine is a 94'). I cut mine about a foot back from where it enters the drivers side firewall for future intergration and left the rest of the harness intact and removed with the engine.

Here is what the 1/4" bolt looks like that holds it in place. The bolt is recessed into the center of the cluster and can be hard to see. Just put a 1/4" socket into there and back it out.

If you need an unmolested LS truck harness with fuse block and dash harness and PCM the whole shibang I have one for you harness and PCM are from 2000 silvy

personally i wouldnt cut anything. figure out how the connector comes apart

mine is a 95 and was a torx bolt unsure of the size though

Yes it is a torx and the bolt is fairly long.
