600hp Raptor
Howdy all,
Havent been around for a long time cause I got rid of my Tahoe, but figured fellow truck nuts would get a kick out of my latest project.
Picked up a 2012 Raptor this past summer and jumped in feet first ordering a Whipple for it and some other misc. mods.
Just finished the Whipple install and got it tuned. This new 6.2L from Ford is pretty impressive.
Baseline off the dealer lot dyno made 335rwhp and 352rwtrq at 5,700. Not bad for a "stock" motor and tune with a paper filter in the box.
With the 2.9L Whipple and 3.375 pulley it made a little over 10psi and 497rwhp and 469rwtrq through complete stock exhaust, muffler and all. I upgraded the intercooler system with an AFCO heat exchanger with fans and a better Meziere water pump.
The truck will light up 35" BFG AT's and go fish tailing around corners like a sports car. The sound is awesome.

sounds really good. Why does the title say 600hp? I see less than 500
-
Typo I'm guessing, but that thing is awesome!
-
I think the 600 is at the crank
-
gotchya. sounds really good!!
-
Yeah, crank hp. give or take. Might be a little over 600, but dyno numbers always vary.
600 X 82% = 492rwhp
Thanks. Truck is a blast to drive. The low end torque launches it out of the hole like a bat out of hell. The whipple is insanely loud at WOT.
Gonna try and take it down to the Qrt mile track after Thanksgiving and see what it will run. I'm guessing mid-13's at about 100mph.

Sounds fun! How much does that big sucker weigh?
-
Little over 6,000lbs. Its the unsprung weight of the 35" BFG AT's that really bog it down. Truck feels like I took 2,000+ lbs off it. They come stock with 4.10 gears which helps, but kills the mpg.

How much boost can these 6.2s take? Ive got one too but a Harley 6.2L a SC is on my wish list but its my daily driver and to tow my Denali around. Only mods so far is a airaide intake magnaflow catback and a mail in tune from JDM and now after seeing this I want one lol how much it set you back? Ive been qouted from $7,500 to $12,000 installed :(

6.2 is not made for boost. Cast pistons and rods. People have been blowing them up, but they seem to do ok at 10psi or less.
Set of forged rods and pistons are in the plan down the road some day. This is my daily driver too and I'm not worried about it breaking.
I got the tuner kit for about $6,000, then $500 for set of 47lbs injectors and $500 for the tuning.
Installed it myself over a long weekend. Not hard to do. Just tedious and uncomfortable.
With the upgraded Afco H/E, Cobra Jet dual 65mm throttle body I was into to it for a little over $8,000.
