Howdy,
I recently put all new brakes on the rear of my truck as the front brakes were still fine. I replaced pads, rotors, and parking brake shoes. Now theres a problem, it clicks. Whenever i hit the brakes from say 45-0 it clicks/clunks and its starting to annoy the hell out of me. I was sure it was the drivers side rotor not being a truly level surface. Napa gave me another rotor for free and it turns out its not even on the drivers side, its on the passenger side. Should i swap the rotors and see if the noise is coming from the drivers side and if it is then ask them to re-surface it or replace it again?
Truck is a 99 RCSB 1/2ton 2wd.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Don't ya love that rear disc setup GM made?

Does that mean that you have the exact same problem as i do? Only thing i can think of after applying a hefty amount of syli-glide was that the rotor(S) might be slightly warped enough for them to make a clicking noise.

Well...
My '99s didn't work and had to find a friendly inspection place. This was constant.
The '01s failed and let the truck roll and nearly killed me while I was under it. I have slightly warped rear rotors on the '01 and the inner right rear pad died on its own.
Pretty lame to me.

What would happen if you installed a line-loc on the rears for a parking brake? Would it hold up? It should work good enough to pass inspection, shouldn't it?

I don't see why not, just seems like a lot more work than need be. I shouldn't have to fix GMs mistakes in my brakes.

I hear you there. I wonder if they have a service bulletin on the e-brakes. That is definitely something the national highway traffic safety commission would make them fix since it's a safety issue and seems to be a common problem.
