Coolant issues, no heat, upper hose gets hot but lower stays cool

Got everything finished up and ready to go get exhaust but I cannot seem to get the air out of the system, the upper hose is getting hot but the lower hose on the radiator stays cool, I am also not getting any warm air when the heat is on and both radiator hoses are staying cool. I put in a brand new thermostat as well, could I possibly have a bad pump??

What motor?
What radiator?

Got the issue fixed, air was still in the system, finally after some cycles of getting warm and cooling down it finally started cooling the way it should

for the next person, park the truck with the nose up hill, remove the hose from the head to head crossover tube and keep pour coolant into the engine through the upper radiator hose until you get a steady stream of fluid out of the crossover tube coming from the engine.

That's some good info, I'll remember that because I'm sure I will be doing another swap on a 67 chevelle in the future

this worked very good for me just cranked my lq4 this past sunday and brought it up to operating temp. in a 92 z71thanks again.
