i went a different route on my coolant temp sensor. it's a 3 pin connector with a mini harness. this way to only need the one sensor.

I am confused, thought I had all this worked out in my mind, my nelson harness will require a temp sensor and I will also need one for my gauge in the dash correct??
yes, the Nelson harness will plug into the 2 pin connector. the green wire will run to your gauge.
Or I can simply plug the nelson harness into the LS temp sensor and drill and tap my water pump for the temp sensor off my old engine and use it for my stock gauge right?
I drilled and taped for a mech temp gauge

three pin is okay but you better get an infrared or some kind of temp gauge to double check the reading because it will be way off. Mechanical is a smart way to do it but you lose the dash readout. If you have an idiot light like my 92 had then the mechanical gauge is 'da bom!
So I need to plug in the nelson harness into my new motor and drill and tap or place the old sensor somewhere in the coolant system correct?
My passenger head had a port for a temp sensor blocked off wuth a plug. Driver side is for pcm.
