03 mirrors on an 02
Hey guys, my hauler truck is an 02 2500hd, I needed a set of tow mirrors and my buddy had a set from his 03 that I really like and they are even heated. I have power mirrors and everything now I just dont have the heated or the turn signals. I live in Maine and the heated would be nice, the turn signals aren't a big deal. I do want to keep the power mirrors tho also. I was wondering if I can re-wire them to work on my truck and maybe run a wire or 2 for the heated part, and the maybe from my rear window defroster switch or even a different switch? Anyone ever done this or have the wiring diagrams and can gimme a clue as to how to go about this?

This may not translate to the 99+, but I replaced the mirror on my moms 98 Suburban, she had power but that was it. The new mirror had defrost also. Just plugged it in and the defrost works without any alterations. I think that GM put everything there for every model, just took things away like the defrost/power and all that. Same with the trucks already being wired for a trans temp guage on the cluster just not being used.

IIRC, the 03-07 tow mirrors have a long harness with different terminals than the 01-02 tow mirrors. The 03-07 harness is physically longer than the 01-02 mirrors because it goes all the way down to the door switches. You may have to do some splicing to the harnesses but they will physically bolt up just fine. I'm pretty sure the heat function works in conjunction with your heated back glass window.
Here are a couple diagrams showing pinouts for the 99-02 stock mirror.

See here for info on the turn signal integration.
Where abouts in Maine? I'm in Old Town.
