settlement on the way! new build! need direction
my apologies if this is in the wrong area. feel free to move if necessary. after 2 years of waiting and paying interest on upwards of 30k in medical bills, lost wages, etc etc, i got a call from my lawyer saying that we were getting down to the nitty gritty. the settlement is on the horizon. that being said i can finally move forward with my dream build. as some of you know, im an ltx'er, im most familiar with that platform but i realize its limitations and downfalls. so heres what i got, and what id like to do. i would appreciate any input anyone has to offer.
the budget is $5000 for powertrain. the patient is a basically stock 1985 monte carlo ss. id like to go with a 4.8 or 5.3, put a z06 cam and springs in, throw front mount turbo on it and put down around 500 to the ground through either a 4l60e or 80e. stock rear on these cars is a 10 bolt with 3.73 gears. the car will see zero track time, a street race once in a blue moon, but mostly be used as a cruiser and possibly a DD during nice weather. id like to keep a shred of fuel economy in mind with the build. i may even be consider a t56 6 speed. i realize the fuel system is going to need some attention and upgrading, probably 60#ers and a 400lph pump with supporting fuel lines. i know the devil is in the details on the FI builds so what else do you think i would need to meet my goals? thanks in advance!
Edit: i will be building my own turbo piping. im considering using the cast manifolds provided they'll fit flipped in the engine compartment. keeping the a/c is a must. i have a lead on a 02 4.8 for $200. i am looking at tearing it down and doing rings and bearings along with the cam swap. this would give me a chance to regap the rings for boost
