help! converter problem

hey guys, haven't been here in a while. i posted this up on ls1tech and didn't get too many replies. maybe yall can give me some idea's. thanks guys...

i spent almost all day putting my new torque converter in. i added fluid to compensate from the fluid lost from the stock converter. also removed the checkball if that helps. still had it on the lift. started the truck, everything sounded good, put it in drive, reverse and was working fine. drove out the hobby shop and it was fine. got on the road and gave about 1/2 trottle. the converter was doing it's job, flashing like it should. slowed down and put it in first. poked it 1/2 to 3/4 trottle and rpms jumped quickly to 4 to 5k, shifted to second and nothing. the motor was sitting there reving like it was in neutral. pulled in the parking lot and tried every gear and nothing, the truck wouldn't even budge. checked the fluid and was good. i thought maybe it could have been the fluid to low or to high. please give me some ideas on where to start... thanks fellas.

You have no gears at all? No reverse, no Manual 1st?

No error codes? Do you have fluid pressure, broke pump? Is the drive shaft turning while truck is still, broke spider gears? Fluid level in tranny being checked while transmission is warm, parked on level ground and engine is running? Same fluid level on both sides of the dipstick? What brand and stall of convertor are you working with?

that's right x, i took the truck out of park and put it and every gear and the truck doesn't budge the motor just rev's.

red, i noticed when i started the truck my check eng. light was flashing. it would stay on steady before but that's because my rear o2's aren't deleted yet. three people have told me that i might have ruined the pump b/c i didn't put it on all the way but i did. i don't think it's the rearend b/c i would have heard an awful clunking sound and also i had to put the truck in neutral to push it in a parking spot and didn't hear anything comming from the differential. i did check the fluid when it was warm and it was way past the full/hot mark. the stall is a tci street fighter 3000.

Lance let some fluid out if it is way past. you might check your converter to flywheel bolts to make sure they are still there? It should have some gear I would think...

Edit: what check ball are you talking about? I guess you just slid the transmission back enough to remove the verter then put the new one in? When you reassembled it did the converter spin free when the tranny was bolted to the engine?

Sounds like for TCC lockup...

i'm not to familliar with automatics so i took it to a local tranny shop today so that they can take a look at it. and if it's messed up, i'm having them build it up. hopefully they start working on it tomorrow and maybe i should know something by friday.
