thinking about getting a transgo and was wondering what to expect as far as firmness. i want to be able to scratch in 2nd but don't know if i'm asking for too much. my truck put out 240hp on the dyno totally stock with exhaust. i've been reading hitmanx thread about 4l60e upgrades and he says to toss all the washers, but what i want to know is will i still be able to catch 2nd if i do so. how much hp do i need to catch 3rd?
With the TG kit you tailor the firmness. It comes with three washers (spacers) that can go in the 1-2 accumulator for the TG 2 spring setup. They firm up the 1-2 shift. If you upgraded to a billet intermediate servo like the Superior Super, the shift would be firm enough w/o using the any spacers. I think this is what Hit Man is talking about. For a Corvette style servo upgrade, the common practice is to use one spacer. Also, you enlarge some flow holes in the VB plate when doing the TG, which also enhances the firmness.
