Nelson Tune

2001silverado

I have a 01 ECSB, with the 4.8 when it was stock it ran the best time of 15.8 @ 86, then I added a cold air intake, throtle body bypass, headers and SLP exhuast, and put smaller tires then stock (285/60/16). Went back to the track and ran the same time. I heard about the nelson tune for the computer, I was wondering if I got this would it help drop my E.T. by reprograming for all my mods. I was hoping for the truck to run a mid 15. I run 93octane, and have 3.42, w/auto. If any one can help I would appreciate it.

285 smaller than stock??? You sure you werent running 245s before?

Stock tires are not 60 series. The second number is the aspect ratio for the sidewall height. 60 series means 60 percent of the width of the tire will be the height of the sidewall from the od to the rim. 255/60/16 would be 10" wide with a 6" sidewall for a total of a 28" tall tire. The 285/60/16 would be about 11.25" wide with a sidewall of about 6.75" for a total tire height of about 29.5". A 245/75/16 would be about a 31" tall tire.

If your main application is to optimize for a lower ET, w/o going forced induction: Increase your rear end gear ratio, get a higher stall, shift kit and have a Nelson tune for those additions plus your current mods.
