Took the truck to the track last night. but my times went the wrong way, and I don't know why. My previous best was
60' 2.329
1/8 10.052
1/4 15.570 @88.55
At 100k miles I changed the original plugs to NGK tr55ix
found 2 bad wires, so I went with MSD 8.5mm
Added custom tune
Cam
and Exhaust.
New times
60'2.531
1/8 10.298
1/415.753@90.58
I also seafoamed the motor at the same time as the cam swap.
I ran 265/70 16 bald a$$ firestones for the 15.57, I borrowed a set of 245/75 16's from a friend thinking the shorter tire would help my times. I'm not sure if I fouled the plugs when I seafoamed, or if I'm loosing that much traction. I couldnt hear thes tires spinning, or feel them spinning. My motor doesn't idle as well, but I figured it was the cam. the plugs were dark when I did the cam, but I don't know how to read plugs, so I didn't know what to do. I figured they're iridium, so I put them back in. I need help bad, I was looking to be in the high 14's. thanks for the help
So what do yall think? Plugs, traction or tuning probs, or a combination of two or more?

Who did the tune and did they tune for the cam? You may have fouled the plugs with the seafoam. Also the 99's and 00 pcm's are known for false knock and with the cam it's probably worst. May want to look into a 01 or 02 pcm.

Jesse Bubb at wait4meperformance did the tune. Yes he tuned for the cam, and its an 02 pcm. I'm hoping I fouled the plugs with the Seafoam. Im gona put new plugs in tonight, and put my tires back on, and try again leaving in 4hi just in case its traction issues too.

When you say the plugs were dark what color. black, brown?read plugs

I'll have to pull them this evening. The threads and base were oily looking. I guess running ritch? Or from Seafoaming? Thanks for the link that helps a lot.

Oil on the base of the plugs is kind of normal, if they are a brownish color kind of dark that is fine too.
What kind of timing are you seeing at wot, anyway to log the data?
good luck,
allen

I'm going to try and dyno it on Sat. Hopefully Futral can data log it for me. Wish you were closer so I could have more confidence in my tune. I guess I'll change the plugs and check them in a few days. Shouldnt I be able to get an idea if its running rich/lean from that?

Did you run both runs in 4Hi? That will slow you down a good amount...
For sure change the plugs.
That cam isn't going to increase your powerband, hell it may even drop some as the LSA is tighter. It's a good cam that should come stock in these trucks for low and midrange power production.

No I ran in 2hi. Allright, changed the plugs when I got home, changed the fuel filter too. put my mudders back on. It seems to idle a lot smother, and run better. Hopefully it was just the plugs. thanks for the help.
