I'm just curious, but how does the power compare between doing a DRIVEABLE cam swap on a 5.3L as opposed to just swapping the 5.3L for a 6.0L?

If I understand your question...
6.0L has more cubes and better heads. It should make more power stock, I read they make 265-280rwhp tuned and with boltons (LTs, intake, fans, pulley) upto about 330rwhp.
Bro, I'm at that same place you are, but w/ a 4.8. I'm looking more into the future like 3 to 5 years out, but same deal. Not sure why, I don't really NEED the power, I just DESIRE it. :tantrum:Quote:

At this point I'm improving my 4L60E and traction, and leaving the motor alone. A fully built tranny w/ shift kit, Caltracs and Hotchkis sway bars are my goal by this time next year.
Then what? Add LT headers, cam/spring/rocker upgrade and finally an STS Turbo. Mucho $$$$$. Let's figure $6000, and that's probably optimistic. For a 4.8, you maybe end up w/ 320 rwhp, and hopefully don't blow the crap out of it.
Or, for $6K, swap in a nice high-pro 6.0, then tear up my tranny and swap in a 4L80E
Or, just trade for a new HD and be done w/ it.
It's alot to think about if you got our sickness.
At least the 80E swap isn't too hardcore any more, Speed Eng has pretty much got all the guess work out of their kits. Many of their parts are priced far less than others, hopefully they'll stay that way.
Price wise is pretty close to a built 60E with stall as a quality 80E with stall, heck a used 80E swapped in would be less spendy than a built 60E.
I emailed them regarding some parts, I'm curious about a few things.
