so i swapped the 5.3 out for another 1999 6.0 it has the long crank and no removable spacer. so im going to swap a 4l80e into my 1999 gmc sierra reg cab short bed4x4 . what year trannys will work?? and what am i going to have to do to make that tranny work in there?? also what transfecase will i need?
Just get a custom convertor made to match the 99+ 60e to an 80e flat flex plate. Circle D can build you one. Swapping to 80e is going to be a major undertaking on a 4x4.
ya i was thinking that. but alot of people say thats the way to go. im not sure why so thats why i asked. seems like its going to be expensive to get driveshafts made. but i also heard that a 4l60e wont take 500 hp to good. so kind of in a rut. but thanks for that option im gonna look into it.
a stock 4l60 wont handle a stock 6.0 lq4 for very long. eventually it will break. If you build the 60 it can handle a good amount. what are you looking to do? unless your looking into major mods for the 60 once built it should be able to handle things.Quote:
