Well, kinda becoming more of a truck freak (my girlfriend would tell you that's not possible). I am usually lurking around one of the truck forums. I had a 95 5.0 and just got a 2001 4.8 RCLB. I was debating between a SC for the 4.8 and a 6.0 swap (is the 6.0 classified as an LS1? I thought it was only the 5.7s) but have decided on the swap. I think it's great you have a whole section dedicated to them. I hope to pull a lot of information out of here the next couple months as I want to be prepared to do the swap sometime this coming spring. I know I'll have a lot of questions and will appreciate and advice you can offer. Thanks guys, nice to find another great board, any initial 6.0 swap suggestions, anyone done exactly what I am talking about?

sounds like a stout project, ive read on there a few times of poeple doin them, but mostly in the planning stages, im not sure anyone on here has started one yet. for the most part the ls1 and 6.0 swaps go through the same if not less steps/processes.

6.0L:
get yourself a '01 or newer block, less things to change out, i think the crank is longer on the old 6L's. It'll be a big jump from the 4.8L. The truck engines are very close to the ls1, but they aren't ls1's.
If you can pull your engine you can do the swap, everything will swap over, very easy to do, well kind of.

Yeah, just getting all the info together for the swap. I agree about the year of 6.0 to get. The 01+ have aluminum heads and don't have the longer crank. i can use the intake and accessories of the 4.8 but not the heads as it will make too high of a compression ratio. I am thinking while I am doing the swap it shouldn't be that hard to add a cam (maybe) and a set of headers (definitely) and a set of high flow cats and exhaust (already have one 3in 2.5 out right now). I figure if the cam is in the picture I shouldn't have a problem hitting the 350 numbers I want to the ground.
The next decision to make is whether to make a sleeper of blatant street truck. I have already decided I want a nice set of 18x9+ to get the traction down and add a little to the look. I don't want it to be too flashy though and have a list going of options. I have a longbed so I think that lends itself to the sleeper look, but I really like this hood. It's from keystone restyling. The only thing is that it is fiberglass and is $$$ at about $800 UNPAINTED!

Here are a couple of pics of the truck, I had a 95 before this one got passed down from my grandpa (you can probably guess the 95 was passed down too - he used to get a new truck about every three years and just pass them down to my dad or me, my dad has a 4x4 though and doesn't want a 2wd so I got it).

So, what do you guys think? I am taking off the Silverado trim, steel paneling and wheel trim and putting on the sierra chrome bullet trim and escalade handles and painted bumper cap. But that is about all the exterior mods I really want to do to it (will lower the rear 2" after winter). Also, if the sleeper look is the way do to go do you think that it would be worth it to get some of that clear 3M protective film for the front of the hood to keep it from getting chipped to all heck?

wow, i really like that hood, i'm gonna have to look into that one, kind of a lot though for a hood.
I say remove the trim, kind of tacky , the replacement will look really nice, the wheel trim has to go too, the other mods will give it enuff to stand out but will look good and not get too much attention, i like the sleeper style.
