I have some Valve clatter in my 01 6.0 liter GMC.
Will plugged cats cause to much back pressure in turn causing valve clatter?
Im about to put magnaflow cat back on my truck and Im considering changing out my cats as well w/ magnaflow cats.

the normal noises a motor makes seemed to get louder when i went to a cutout on my truck.
Have you messed with the stock tune? What grade of fuel are you running? What mods have you done the engine so far? Need more information. You can add it to your signature to keep people from asking all the time.

Im going to change my cats. Im thinking that they are plugged. or getting that was at least.
Im also installing a Magnaflow cat back on it.
I plan on getting a Nelson Tune soon as soon as I can. I want to go to him or meet him somewhere if he is closer to me that SA.
Many things can lead to pinging and it's usually something to do with the fuel. Water contaminated or low octane usually leads the field on a stock vehicle. If your tune is stock the PCM should adjust the ping out of the timing. If your cats are plugged then the truck will hardly run and will have lost a lot of power and fuel mileage. Have you changed your spark plugs lately?
Its got 75000 miles on it and the truck seems like it wants to go but it just cant. Sounds like the engine is pulling its ass off but not moving very good. Hell i cant even burn the tires around a corner or power braking.
I only run 93 octane in it.
I have not changed the plugs
Yeah, that sounds like your cats are on the way out. Never hurts to upgrade to modern day convertors while updating the exhaust.
