86 K10 LQ4 Project
Hey everyone, Got myself an 86 K10 short bed and an LQ4 to throw in it. Gonna keep the motor stock for now, do need a CAI and some long tubes though. I see people use the Schoenfeld's, but they may not work with the 4wd. Has anyone tried them yet? Or have any other ideas?Attachment 5565Attachment 5566Attachment 5567

hey should be a nice build. nothing like a new school motor in an older truck. schenfeilds will not work with 4wd. they dont clear the front dif. i used pacesetter long tubes and they fit perfectly. good luck with the build and keep us posted!

He's got a straight axle as where you have ifs. I've got a s10 blazer on an 8X 4x4 full size frame. They fit great but, I do have double transfer cases, so I have a little more room to work with on the passenger side. I don't know how close the collector would be to your transfer case but if you'd like, I can take some measurements and let you know.

That would be great! Which headers did you use bstill?

Schoenfeld. Sorry, meant to say that. I'll get you some numbers but it may be a couple days.

Sorry it took so long and you may have already went another route, but I did do some measuring. From the looks of it, they'll work, but be tight. If you know a good muffler shop, they should be able to do it with no problems.
The yoke will be about 9 1/2" from the collector. The top of the collector is flush with the top of the frame and is about an inch away from the frame.
I hope this helps.

Ok cool. I plan to order them soon. Finally dropped the motor in last night. The Dirty Dingo mounts are worth every penny! Made life so much easier to be able to move the motor around. Still need a ton of little things. Hoses, fuel line, etc.

Just ran across this thread as I'm working on a LQ4 swap in a 1980 4wd and was wondering how those heads fit your 4x4...?
I've got a 6" suspension + 3" body lift so ill probably have a little more clearance to work with...but figured I'd resurrect this thread to see how it went before I take the plunge :)
