Cam for my turbo build
Hey guys, my friend found an eps 226/234 cam with a 113 lsa for $350 brand new. I was wondering if that cam would work well in my turbo build. I know it's not a boost designated cam but if it'll work I'll give it a go. The engine is a 5.3 that will have the top rings gapped, arp rod bolts and head studs, prolly have the stock heads worked over a little bit, a stock truck intake for now and a 76mm master power or magnum turbo. The truck is right at 4000 lbs curb weight with a built 4L60 with a circle D 3600 and 4.10 gears. So would this can make some good power? Or will it hurt me to go with it over a smaller boost specific cam?

Wow that seems like a big cam but I'm not sure bump.....

Idk much about FI cams but after talking to a few people who I admire their turbo setups and also a spec from pat G. I'm gonna run a 23x/24x .6xx/.6xx. So to me that cam doesn't sound to big but performance wise no idea

What size engine is in your truck?

Im not 100% sure but fairly certain that Mitch had a 224/224 in his 5.3 when he put down around 800hp on the dyno and ran 11.xx breaking the driveshaft.
Seems to me that most people go with a little wider LSA than a 113, like 114 up to 117. But again Im no expert. I would just get a cam spec'd out. That way there is no guessing.

yea im just going to get one spec'd. what size turbo does mitch run?
-
I think at that time he had twin 70's....dont quote me on that though.

Twin 70s and a 225/225, and Mitch ran 11.2ish on low boost. The next pass was going to be at least .5 faster when he broke the shaft.

Thats a bigger cam than on my 408.

nice! I just going to talk to Pat G or Geoff at EPS and go with what they recommend. Im wanting to make around 650 rear wheel with my budget build and I know that may be a stretch. Do yall think I can do it with my 5.3, 76MM, boost cam and stock heads and intake?
