5.3 + 4l80e = 4l80e torque converter/flexplate dust shield?

Alright so ive determined i am lacking some sort of dust shield that covers the converter on the base of the trans. Since this motor isnt what was mated to this 4l80e(out of an 06 express 2500), im curious.. Do i use a escalade/truck 5.3 dust shield for the trans, do i use the one from the express van and have to grind anything away so it fits around the oil pan(unless its the same), or is there some sort of conversion part i need. This is all thats keeping me from bolting things together....and looking at them till i have enough money to buy the fuel system and driveshaft.. (sigh)


Ive searched around, but ill be honest, i guess im a doofus and dont know what exactly that shield is called so all my searches are worthless.

im guessing you mean the cover that stops you from seeing the converter, well to be honest I haven't had that cover on in over 2 years :lol:

I don't use a cover either. I figured, the extra air that gets to the converter would help to keep it cooler.

You don't need it but all the 80e dust sheilds are the same

i dont have one on the smallblock setup ive got in here now, i just was not sure if i would tear something up without it. Adios then, thanks again fellers.
