hard start issues!!!
this has been going on for a while but when i go to start my truck i have to cycle the key and let the fuel pump prime a few times and then try to start sometimes takes longer then others. ive checked fuel pressure and as soon as i shut it off it shoots to 0. im ready to replace the pump with a walbro 255lph if needed but if not i will just hold off i just need to resolve the issue before it starts creating more problems like starter...:hyper2: thanks guys

check the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. remove the vacuum line from it and start the truck. If gas drips or sprays out of it the reg is toast and drowning the engine with fuel. Its best to put the hose in an empty soda bottle to catch any fuel that leaks out, if its leaking.

ok ill try that but whats the next step if thats not it?

when was the last time you changed the fuel filter? what do the plugs look like?

fuel filter already changed 6000 miles ago and plugs look good

Sounds like the pump (really it is the one way check valve within pump) is getting ready to die. The check valve keep the fuel rail pressurized after shut the engine off until you start it next time. Stick a fuel pressure gauge on the rail and see what it is while you are cranking the engine over and experiencing what i call the dreaded carbureted start. It could also be a leaky injector leaking off pressure too. But this is the classic symptom of a pump getting ready to die.
