How much timing are you boosted 6.0L guys running with how many lbs. of boost? I'm gonna start with 7 lbs of boost and wanted to know where would be a safe place to start the timing @ WOT. Thanks in advance

15-17 Might be a good place
theres alot of variations to this question. Ive ran as high as 29* timing on my Ls2. this was stock ls2 head gaskets stock TTY head bolts. On e85 and 100% VP m1 meth. at 26* timing i made 816rwhp/747rwtq on a mustang dyno. I turned it up on the street and ran 29* and that was when i lifted the driverside head. At 29* timing on 11 psi i was around 855-860 rwhp.
at 20* timing i was 767rwhp on a mustang dyno
at 8* tiiming i was 560rwhp on a mustang dyno
this was on a 10.0 cr setup
all of this on 11 psi
now your setup will of course be different but that is an example how much you should be able to push with right setup. Only reason i realized i lifted the head was the coolant rised 10* after a wot run. few days later i noticed a few drips of coolant on side of block under cylinder 1. I doubt youll find anyone else running as high of timing as i just did but i wanted to see were the limit was
I know there is a lot that factors into my question, but I just want to know what people run to give me an idea of where to start with the LQ4. I think I'll start with about 14*-15* without the meth and work my way up from there. If I can make good enough power without pushing the timing up really far, then I'll just leave the tune at that (a little conservative) then dump the meth on top of it. That's how I did it with the 4.8L and it made decent power without a hiccup.
You already got it bolted together and the turbo in place?
Jet,
I started with 11-13* at 8psi on 92oct pump gas with 65psi Fuel pressure. Iat was 115-135*
Had a 78% humidity factor, and was 5mts over sea level.
That achive a good no kR at all.
Maxout at 14* at same conditions, read some kr. So I backed it up.
Of couurse "with the right set up and a lot of octane and cold air you can sky high timming", but my numbers are real world, not fairy tales.
Yup, the 6.0L is in and the turbo is mounted. I just have to run the cold pipes and finish relocating the overflow tank. Iim trying to route the pipes from the turbo to intercooler in a way that avoids as much engine heat as possible. That way, the intercooler and meth can really take care of the heat inside the pipes.
Thanks a ton. I think I'll start with 11*
