I just happened to look at this thread, so I'm not trying to swipe this offer from you; it's your business. I'm also not trying to lose 02Denali a sale.
But, I also have a 4.8L and have been looking at cams. I am not sure your truck would even be driveable with this Comp Cam. Based on what some knowledgeable guys have told me, 212/218 is about right for the 4.8L to still have driveability. Maybe you could get a little more radical, but not much. Definately keep the LSA 114 and under.

For the LSA, that was a misleading statement on my part. Thanks for pointing that out. What I should have said, for a 4.8 and a fairly aggressive cam, is to keep it around 114 LSA.
As for where I got that, it was based on correspondence with Allen Nelson (Nelson Performance) and Dave Tuschhoff (Thunder Racing). That "rule of thumb" LSA value for the 4.8L is to keep a good idle and drivability for something like a 212/218. I'm sure you could go to a little more aggressive cam w/ the 4.8, but in an otherwise stock engine, things might get pretty tough.
As example, Thunder has a 214/220 .600/.523 115 LSA custom grind that would be just fine in a 5.3, but in a 4.8 may have disappointing results. Same could be said for a 112 LSA and 220/224 duration one.
Whatever the case, long tube (or at least mid-length) headers, a higher stall, upgraded springs and good tune are in order; unless the cam is very mild, and what's the point of doing that :thumb:
idle quality can be made up for on any cam. there are 4.8's running 112's all ove rthe place. with proper tuning it will work. a 114 lsa cam will have great idle quality. the 112's do not idle well at all. i was running n/a with this cam but i had plenty of mods to support it. as for this cam in a 4.8 yes it will work. but there will have to be more mods to support it. the first being a stall.
well the only thing i have done to my truck is cold air and muffler with little stupid stuff like mas screen removed and coolant bypass so this cam wouldnt be for me right? what about a stock corvette cam or camaro one?
Allen recommended a LS6 cam for me, all my internals are stock. I will also have to upgrade to LS6 springs, I'll get a stall soon after but its not first on my list.

well i think im gonna buy just a stock ls1 cam does anyone think that would work with what i have. its a 4.8 cold air, and muffler thats it?!
a friend of mine is interested in it if it is still for sale.
he would like to know how many miles are on it, and if you have the cam card?
